Hundreds of women come from all corners of the world to fight ISIS. Heiresses to a 40-year-old movement born in Turkey, the Free Women’s Party, they are based in North Iraq. Founder Sakine Cansiz was killed in Paris in 2013. Their objective is ambitious: to bring gender equality and a democratic, egalitarian society to northern Syria.
